面對現今金融市場推出越來越多的金融相關商品，舉凡購買保險、金融投資，往往因為資訊不足容易發生不同程度的金融消費問題。以往民眾遭遇金融糾紛，大多採取前往法院訴訟的方式解決，但民眾由於不熟悉訴訟程序且採取該救濟管道曠日費時，總是難以從容面對這樣的金融消費爭議。
相對於訴訟程序，由政府捐助成立的「財團法人金融消費評議中心」(以下 簡稱評議中心)，以公正第三方的角色來處理金融消費爭議，擁有專業、迅速、免費等三大優勢。以請求保險金100萬為例，若至法院訴訟，原告起訴時需先繳交10,900元裁判費；而向評議中心申請評議則一律免付費，評議結果若在一定額度內(投資型商品100萬以下、非投資型商品10萬以下)對金融業者具有拘束力，金融業者則必須遵守。
根據評議中心委託天下遠見民調中心，針對金融消費者的金融消費習慣調查顯示，目前台灣有金融消費經驗的民眾已超過八成；只有三成民眾面對不愉快的經驗會進行處理或申訴；僅一成左右的民眾認識評議中心，究其原因多為怕麻煩或不熟悉處理程序。評議中心為減少民眾疑慮，日前製作一支宣導動畫影片，以傻萌的柴犬為主角，透過和眼神銳利的波斯貓的對角戲，搭配大象、老鷹、折耳兔與評議中心吉祥物－評議黑熊等擬人化可愛動物，融入在爭議處理流程的教學題材中，相當貼近現實生活中民眾遭遇金融消費爭議的情境和處理方式。
金融海嘯後強化金融消費者保護已是國際趨勢，民眾在面對金融市場多元的投資管道時，可先藉由專業、公共的管道來了解個人權益與預防爭議的發生。民眾可透過評議中心建置的「評議決定書查詢系統」，以關鍵字搜尋相關類型的評議決定，參考評議委員會對於該案例的最新見解，從中學習正確的金融消費觀念，預先建立自我保護機制。

又有食安問題？向來深受台灣人喜愛的日式料理，其中有五家連鎖店所販賣的生魚片、海鮮丼飯遭周刊爆出滿是細菌。不僅驗出大腸桿菌超標、金黃色葡萄球菌、腸炎弧菌等致病菌，在食品衛生管理部分可能也有嚴重疏漏。
據《壹週刊》報導，因近來有民眾食用生魚片後出現上吐下瀉、發燒症狀，質疑業者衛生不佳。經周刊將「定食8」、「八坂丼屋」、「築地鮮魚」、「瞞著爹」、「百八魚場」送往SGS檢驗後，發現其中三家業者大腸桿菌群超標，包含：定食8康寧店的豪華海景丼、百八魚場西湖店的御品三色丼、瞞著爹內湖店的大碗生魚丼；另外三家業者則被驗出含有金黃色葡萄球菌，分別是：八坂丼屋ATT 4FUN店的超值海鮮丼（460MPN/g）、定食8豪華海景丼（23MPN/g）、築地鮮魚極品三色丼（7.4MPN/g）。
依《食品衛生管理法》第十條，生魚片丼飯的微生物，大腸桿菌群應小於1000MPN/g，金黃色葡萄球菌、腸炎弧菌等致病菌不得驗出。此次「定食8」豪華海景丼同時驗出大腸桿菌群超標及金黃色葡萄球菌，衛生最令人堪憂；八坂丼屋ATT 4FUN店超值海鮮丼金黃色葡萄球菌嚴重超標，可見廚師於料理台的衛生管理應有疏漏。
台北市衛生局表示，金黃色葡萄球菌屬人為汙染，通常來自於負責料理的廚師，大腸桿菌與大腸桿菌群是環境衛生的指標菌，若超標就代表食品製程中受到糞水汙染。對此，各家業者皆表示平時都有要求員工注重衛生，會再加強注意，並了解、檢討是哪個環節有疏失，希望作到最好的品質服務顧客。
